On 1/1/19 at 12:20 am, Officers observed a male, later identified as Matthew Muchow, unsteady on his feet and walking towards a restaurant. The Officers had previously observed Muchow vomiting in the area but Muchow had fled the are on foot prior to the Officers apprehending him. The Officers approached and advised Muchow to call for a ride and go home, due to his level of intoxication, or be arrested for public drunkenness. The Officer attempted to guide Muchow in the direction he was being picked up and Muchow pushed back at the Officer. Matthew Muchow was taken into custody and escorted back to the Kennett Square Police Department by the Officers. After the Officers placed Muchow in a temporary holding cell he began kicking the holding cell door. The Officers opened the cell door to speak with Muchow and check on his well being. As the Officers ended their conversation with Muchow and attempted to secure the holding cell door he then forced the door open and assaulted the two Officers. Matthew Muchow was then held for an arraignment by the on call Magistrate on charges of Aggravated Assault and related offenses.
