Saturday, March 16, 2019, an Officer initiated a traffic stop on an orange Toyota Tacoma being operated at 59 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. Upon making contact with the operator, later identified as Oscar Penate-Linares, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage could be detected emanating from inside the vehicle. The Officer asked Penate-Linares if he had been drinking, to which he stated he had 3-4 beers. Oscar Penate-Linares was asked and agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing to which he did not complete satisfactorily, leading the officer to believe he was under the incapable of operating a motor vehicle safely. Oscar Penate-Linares was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs and later released from police custody pending a summons for DUI and related charges filed with District Court 15-3-04.
