On 11-27-2019, the KTPD arrested Solishum SHIELDS, 37 of Wilmington, Delaware for DUI, reckless driving, and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia. Around 10:50 PM, an officer located SHIELDS, passed out in his vehicle, in the 900 block of South Union Street. When the officer approached and tapped on the window, SHIELDS awoke and began to frantically steer and stomp down on the gas pedal, while the vehicle was fortunately still in neutral. The officer was able to remove SHIELDS from the vehicle and observed that he displayed several indicators of impairment. He also recovered drug paraphernalia and a substance confirmed to be methamphetamine from SHIELDS' vehicle. SHIELDS was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Blood results later confirmed that SHIELDS was under the influence of methamphetamine.
