News Release

On 6.16.17 police took a call from a resident that received a phone call from someone who claimed to be from PECO Energy. The caller said the person needed to pay $1,100.00 or face having their power turned off. The person was instructed to purchase MoneyPak cards from Rite Aid to pay the outstanding bill.

The police department reminds residents that utilities and other agencies never call and demand payment with prepaid or other types of cards and if it happens, it is certainly a scam. To reduce the risk of someone you know becoming a victim of this scam, the department urges people to have this conversation with friends and family that may not be aware of this.

On 6.19.17 at approximately 6:20pm police responded to the intersection of East Cypress Street and Cope Road for a report of an intoxicated person staggering along the road.  Officers found Felipe Perez-Alonzo (26-year-old male of the 400 block of Birch St, Kennett Square) in the 400 block of McFarlan Road and he was cited for Public Drunkenness.

On 6.19.17 at approximately 12:05pm police responded to the intersection East Hillendale Road and Greenwood Road where a motorist ran over a “Road Closed” sign. There were no injuries and the vehicle sustained a flat tire.
