On 07/24/2017 at approximately 0418 hrs. the North Coventry Twp. Police Dept. responded to the area of fuel pump 5, of the Wawa store, 1417 S. Hanover St., on the report of an unresponsive white male in a black Nissan. Upon arrival police observed the black Nissan parked at the fuel pump with the driver's side door open. Police observed a white male, later identified as Ethan Daniel Degele, 34 of Elverson the defendant, unconscious, but breathing seated in the driver's seat. Police observed that the defendant had a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from him. Police attempted several times to wake the defendant with no success. Goodwill Ambulance responded to the scene at the request of the police. Upon arrival of EMS the defendant was awoken by EMS staff. Police were advised by the defendant that he had a firearm in his front waist band. The defendant was taken out of the vehicle and the firearm recovered and secured by police. Police conducted a pat down of the defendant and recovered a prescription pill bottle from the defendant. The defendant admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening and stated to police that the pills were "Oxycotin and Suboxone", which the defendant did not have a prescription for. The pill bottle and contents were placed into evidence for drug testing analysis. The defendant was checked by EMS and refused treatment. Police then took the defendant into custody for possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness.
