On August 13, 2016 at about 1144 hours, the North Coventry Police Department were advised of a reckless driver traveling south on Rt. 100 through Upper Pottsgrove Township. Witnesses observed the operator of a Honda Civic swerving on the roadway. The operator was also seen with a hypodermic needle sticking in his arm. As the vehicle continued to travel south on Rt. 100, the vehicle almost struck the curb at Rt. 100 and King Street. The West Pottsgrove Police Department and Upper Pottsgrove Police Department located the vehicle on Rt. 100 and observed it swerving. The vehicle was stopped in the Coventry Mall parking lot. The operator, Brandon Deppen, was taken into custody after completing field sobriety testing. Drug paraphernalia was recovered from inside Deppen's vehicle. Deppen refused to provide a blood sample for chemical testing. Deppen was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and traffic offenses.
