The North Coventry Police arrested Joseph Lopez, age 28 of Reading for DUI and possession of control substance. On 1/24/2021, at about 2020 hours, Officer was travelling east on Rt. 724 near the Rt. 100 south off-ramp. Officer observed a black BMW sedan travelling on the ramp. The BMW failed to yield to oncoming traffic at the posted yield sign of the intersection of the Rt. 100 ramp and Rt. 724 east nearly striking Officer’s patrol vehicle. The Officer conducted a traffic stop of the BMW that was operated by Lopez. During the course of the investigation, Officer determined that Lopez was operating his vehicle while under the influence of marijuana. A search of the BMW was conducted. The Officer located 186 pills of Adderall in the vehicle. Lopez was taken into custody and transported to the North Coventry Police Department where he submitted to a blood draw. Lopez was processed and later released to a sober adult. DUI and other related charges were filed against Lopez with District Court 15-3-01.
