On 09/17/17 at approximately 1255 hours, North Coventry Police responded to the Kohl’s Department Store at the Coventry Mall for a retail theft in progress. Loss prevention advised that two females were observed selecting a large amount of merchandise and going into the fitting room. When the females exited, their purses were bulging and the merchandise was not located in the fitting room. The females then exited the store without offering payment for the merchandise. The females were stopped by loss prevention and escorted back to the office. One of the females was identified as Lori Ritz, 43 y/o from Denver, Pa. Merchandise was recovered from Ritz’s purse. The value of the merchandise was $147.93. Ritz was processed and officers found that she had four prior retail theft convictions on her criminal history. Based on this, this offense was graded as a felony. Ritz was housed and then subsequently video arraigned in front of Judge Tartaglio. Her bail was set at $500 cash. Ritz was able to post bail and was released. Her preliminary hearing date is scheduled for October 16, 2017 in front of Judge Brown.
