On February 06, 2019 at about 1700 hours, the North Coventry Police responded to the area of south bound Rt. 100 & Rt. 422 for a two vehicle crash. While responding to the accident, police were advised that Unit #2 left the scene, traveling south bound on Rt. 100. Unit #2 was described as a black Ford Crown Victoria. The operator of Unit #1 advised police, that the operator of Unit #2 appeared to be intoxicated. Police were able to stop Unit #2 in the area of south bound Rt. 100 and Lenape Crossing. The operator, who was identified as Roderick Strickland, was seated in the drivers seat of Unit #2. Strickland advised police that he was unsure of what happened, but stated that someone had struck his vehicle from the rear, while he was traveling south bound on Rt. 100. While speaking with Strickland, the police detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Strickland, which he admitted to consuming prior to the crash. Police administered field sobriety tests to Strickland, which he completed 1 out of the 3 tests. Strickland advised police that he could not continue with field sobriety testing. Strickland was taken into custody for DUI. Strickland did submit to a breath test which revealed that his BAC was 0.192%. Strickland was processed and later transported to Chester County Prison.
