On Thursday, July 30th at approximately 7:20pm, The North Coventry Township Police Department responded along with the Norco Fire Company for an active structure fire at the Ashwood Apartments located in the 700 block of Worth Boulevard. The fire had spread throughout the complex with heavy smoke coming from the building. The police along with firefighters evacuated the residents from inside of the building. Thirty other area fire departments and several Emergency Medical Service Units from Chester, Berks, Montgomery and Delaware counties assisted the Norco Fire Company in fighting the fire. After several hours, the fire was deemed under control. Four residents and three fire fighters were transported from the scene by Goodwill Ambulance to area hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries sustained during the fire. The apartment residents were transported by buses from the Owen J. Roberts School District to the Norco Fire Company where they were assisted by the American Red Cross. Fire Marshals from the Chester County, Pennsylvania State Police, and the ATF responded to assist in the fire investigation. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
