On July 30, 2017 at about 1216 hours, the North Coventry Police responded to the Coventry Mall, 351 W. Schuylkill Road, on the report of one vehicle into the Boscov's Department Store. The Norco Fire Company and Goodwill Ambulance also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police spoke with the operator and witnesses. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
Unit#1, a 2010 Hyundai Elantra operated by Eleanor Carey, 88, of Linfield, was parked in a parking stall on the south side of Boscov's. As Unit#1 was backing out of the stall, Carey lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle began to spin clockwise. Unit#1 jumped the curb on the parking lot island and traveled off the island. Unit#1 continued to spin backwards across the roadway until it jumped the curb to the sidewalk in front of the store. The front end of the Unit#1 struck a large glass window pane in the front of the store. Unit#1 came to a stop against the metal window frame.
Unit#1 sustained damage to the rear bumper, undercarriage, right front end, and front passenger door. Douglassville Auto Body arrived and removed the vehicle from the scene.
