One vehicle crash
On 1/19/2019 at 0639 hrs., the North Coventry Twp. Police Dept. responded to the area of 530 S. Hanover St. on the report of a one vehicle crash into a utility pole. Upon police arrival police observed the vehicle, a white 2010 Nissan facing north against the utility pole on the east side of the roadway. The operator, Bernard R. Morgan, 29, of Phoenixville, was standing outside of the vehicle talking to the property owner's of 530 and 518 S. Hanover St. The operator advised that he was not injured.
Police investigation revealed that Unit #1 was traveling north on S. Hanover St. Opr. #1 advised that he was not wearing his glasses at the time of the crash. Opr. #1 was looking down in his vehicle, driving with careless disregard for the safety of persons or property, and drove north/east off the side of the roadway. Unit #1 continued north/east striking the curb, the mailbox and post at 518 S. Hanover St., the fence, mailbox and post at 530 S. Hanover St., the PennDOT Route 422 sign and post, and the Peco utility pole # 305, coming to final rest. Unit #1 sustained disabling front end damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash and Opr. #1 was cited for PMVC 3714(a) careless driving.
