On this date, at approximately 1404 hrs. NCPD responded to 340 S. Hanover St. on the report of a one vehicle crash into a building. Upon our arrival, Police observed a gray Pontiac Torrent, facing north across the porch and into the north west corner of the building at 340 S. Hanover St. This building is a single family home and was unoccupied at the time of the crash. The driver, Tyree J. Lawrence, 22 of Norristown, and sole occupant of the Pontiac was standing on the side walk.
Police investigation revealed that unit #1 was traveling west on the Route 422 west off ramp. At the intersection of the off ramp and S. Hanover St., unit #1 failed to stop for a posted stop sign. Unit #1 made a wide right turn, north onto S. Hanover St., crossing over into the southbound lane of S. Hanover St. Opr. #1 over corrected turning right (east). Unit #1 traveled north east across the north bound lane of S. Hanover St., striking the east side curb, then a metal pole, continuing north east striking two porch poles and the north west corned of the building at 340 S. Hanover St. Unit #1 sustained disabling front end damage and was towed from the scene. Opr. #1 advised that he was not injured, but was transported to the Pottstown Hospital by Goodwill Ambulance at his own request. Opr. #1 was found to have a PA photo ID only. Opr. #1 was cited for PMVC 1501(a) Drivers Required to be Licensed and 3323(b) Stop Signs and Yield Signs. NCPD was assisted by Norco Fire Co. and Norco Fire Police.
