On September 3, 2021 at about 2:15am, the North Coventry Township Police Department responded to the area of Rt. 422 between S. Hanover Street and Rt. 100 for a one vehicle crash. The vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette, was observed traveling west on Rt. 422 at a high rate of speed. As the Chevrolet crossed over the S. Hanover Street overpass, the operator, and sole occupant, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a slight left curve in the roadway. The Chevrolet struck the guide rail on the shoulder of the roadway and crossed back over the two west bound lanes. The vehicle struck and crossed over the center guide rail, and rolled over several times in the east bound lanes of Rt. 422. The Chevrolet came to a rest striking the center guide rail for a second time. The operator was extracted from the vehicle by the Norco Fire Company Rescue and Goodwill Ambulance. The operator sustained serious injuries and was flown by Penn Star to the Reading Hospital for treatment. The roadway was closed for about four hours while the police conducted their crash investigation. The case remains open pending further information.
