PHONE SCAM

North Coventry Police took a report from a elderly resident who stated he received a phone  call from a subject pretending to be his grandson. The caller advised he was in jail in New York and needed $5,000.00 in bail money. The caller recognized it was not his grandson and the call was terminated.

North Coventry Police reminds residents that this is an ongoing phone scam and you should never wire/send money after receiving these phone calls without verifying the legitimacy of the call.

North Coventry Police can make phone calls requests to law enforcement agencies throughout the country to verify if a family member has been arrested.
