Retail Theft/False ID/Criminal Mischief
On 10/01/2017 at approximately 1405 hours, North Coventry Police responded to the Kohl's at the Coventry Mall for a retail theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with loss prevention who had two juvenile females (16 y/o and 17 y/o) detained for stealing merchandise. The merchandise was recovered and was valued at $408.97. In the attempt to steal the clothes, the juveniles ripped security sensors from the clothing damaging $292.48 worth of the clothing. The 17 year old was caught attempting to dispose of a small bag of marijuana. During the investigation, both females lied to police about their identities and who their guardians were. After further investigation, the 16 year old was eventually released to her mother. The 17 year old was found to be a missing runaway from Norristown. She also had a bench warrant from Montgomery County Juvenile Probation and was transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center for housing. Both females are being charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft, false ID to law enforcement, and criminal mischief. The 17 year old is also being charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
