On 6/28/17 at 1630 hrs. The North Coventry Twp Police Dept. responded to the area of Route 422 west and the Route 100 overpass on the report of a three unit crash. All three units were traveling west on Route 422 in the center lane. Unit #3, operated by Stephanie E. Kirkner, of Pottstown, was in front of Unit #2, operated by Janet L. Howard, of Reading, and Unit #2 was in front of Unit #1, operated by William Koyste, of Fleetwood. While on the Route 100 overpass (bridge) Units #3 and #2 came to a stop in their traffic lane due to stopped traffic in front of them. Unit #1 did follow Unit #2 at a distance that was closer than was reasonable and prudent for the speed and conditions that existed and struck Unit #2 from behind. Unit #2 was pushed forward and struck the rear end of Unit #3. Unit #1 sustained disabling front end damage, Unit #2 sustained disabling rear end damage and functional front end damage. Unit #3 sustained disabling rear end damage. All three Units were towed from the scene. The passenger, Carol Koyste, of Unit #1 advised of chest pain and was transported to the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center by Goodwill Ambulance for treatment. Opr. #2 advised of back and neck pain and refused EMS transport/treatment. Opr. #3 advised of neck pain and refused EMS transport/treatment. Opr. #1 was cited for PMVC 3310 Following Too Closely. North Coventry Twp. Police were assisted Norco Fire Co. and Norco Fire Police.
