Two vehicle crash
On 2/17/2018 at 1900 hrs. the North Coventry Twp. Police Department responded to the area of Route 724 west of Laurelwood Rd. on the report of a two vehicle crash. Police investigation revealed that both units were traveling west on Route 724. Unit #1, operated by Dean Zollers, of Pottstown, was traveling west in the right lane. Unit #2, operated by Emilio Matos III, of West Chester, was traveling in front of Unit #1 and became disabled, partially off the north side of the roadway, stuck in snow. Unit #1 attempted to pass unit #2 in the eastbound lane and was forced to return to the right lane due to oncoming traffic. Unit #1 was traveling at a speed that was greater than was reasonable for the conditions that existed and lost control, striking the driver's side rear and driver's side door of unit #2. Unit #1 then became disabled, stuck in snow, partially off the north side of the roadway. Unit #1 sustained minor passenger's front end damage, was towed back onto the roadway and driven from the scene. Unit #2 sustained disabling driver's side damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash. Unit #2 was found to have an expired PA registration (9/2017) and Opr. #2 was found to be operating the motor vehicle while his operating privilege was suspended. Opr. #2 was cited for PMVC 1543(a) driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked and PMVC 1301(a) registration and certificate of title required.
