On 4/26/19 at 1735 hours the North Coventry Twp. Police Dept. responded to 1670 S. Hanover St. (Route 100 north) on the report of a two vehicle crash. It was reported that both vehicles were pulled off to the side of the roadway. Upon police arrival both operators were standing outside of their vehicles talking and advised that no one was injured.
Police investigation revealed that at the time of the crash the weather was rain and the roadway was wet. In the area of the crash, Route 100 north is up hill in grade and there was no visible standing water on the roadway. Unit #1, operated by Tyler Wilson, of West Chester, was traveling north on Route 100 and was behind unit #2, operated by Michael Fithian, of Boyertown. In the area of 1670 S. Hanover St. (Route 100 north) unit #2 was stopped in traffic. Unit #1 was traveling at a speed that was greater than was reasonable and prudent for the rain conditions that existed and failed to stop in time, striking the rear end of unit #2. Unit #1 sustained disabling front end damage and was towed from the scene. Unit #2 sustained functional rear end damage and was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.
