On this 11/27/19 at 1307 hrs., NCPD responded to the Route 724 on ramp to Route 100 south on the report of a two vehicle crash. Upon Police arrival, both vehicles were found in traffic at the intersection of the Route 724 ramp and Route 100 south. One operator (#1) was standing outside of his vehicle taking photos of his vehicle. The other operator (#2) was sitting in her vehicle and Police observed that she had a laceration above her left eye and EMS was requested to respond. Police investigation revealed that both units were traveling on the Route 724 on ramp to Route 100 south. Unit #2, operated by Karen Leblanc, of Douglassville, was in front of unit #1, operated by Donovan Beltz, of Pottstown. At the intersection of the Route 724 ramp and Route 100 south, unit #2 was stopped waiting to merge with traffic. Unit #1 did follow unit #2 at a distance that was closer than was reasonable and prudent for the speed and conditions that existed and struck unit #2 from behind. Unit #1 sustained disabling front end damage. Unit #2 sustained functional rear end damage. Opr. #2 sustained a laceration above her left eye, was seen by EMS, but refused transportation to a hospital. Opr. #1 was transported to the Pottstown Hospital by EMS for unknown injury. Unit #1 was towed from the scene. Unit #2 was driven from the scene. Unit #1 was found to have an expired PA registration (10/19), inspection (10/19), and emissions (10/19). Opr. #1 was cited for PMVC 3310 following too closely, PMVC 1301 registration and certificates of title required, PMVC 4702 requirements for periodic inspection of vehicles, and PMVC 4706 C(5) emission inspection violation.
