On 04/21/2017 at approximately 0612 hours, North Coventry Police were investigating a hit and run in progress on RT 100 in the area of Glocker Way. The fleeing vehicle was said to be silver in color. While checking the area, the Officer was operating a marked police vehicle, located the involved silver vehicle on the north bound shoulder of RT 100, just north of the Neiman Road overpass. The Officer , who was traveling south, activated the emergency lighting to stop traffic. The Officer started to make a U-Turn to make contact with the silver vehicle. The Officer's patrol car was then struck by a southbound vehicle driven by David Barrett of South Abington Twp. Lower Pottsgrove PD was called to assist with the crash investigation. The investigation determined that Barrett was driving too fast for conditions. Both vehicles sustained functional damage and were driven from the scene. Barrett was cited for PMVC 3361 driving vehicles at safe speeds.
