Oliver Escobar-Perez, age 24, of Avondale was arrested and charged with Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury While Not Properly Licensed, DUI-Controlled Substances, Accidents involving Damage to Attended Vehicle or Property, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, False ID to Law Enforcement, and several additional traffic offenses. The arrest stems from a traffic collision that occurred on 02/06/2020 at approx. 7:49 pm, in the 100 block of West Evergreen Street, in West Grove Borough. The 2007 Lincoln that Escobar-Perez was driving struck the rear of a 2007 Chevrolet. It then crossed the roadway and struck a Toyota that was parked in a private driveway. A witness saw the driver, later identified as Escobar Perez, exit the driver’s seat of the Lincoln and flee on foot. He failed to render aid to his two passengers, who were both injured and failed to provide his information to the other involved motorist and property owner, as required by law. A resident called 911 and alerted officers to a subject that was requesting medical assistance and claimed to have been attacked by a coyote. Officers searched the area and located Escobar-Perez hiding in a shed. He was covered in mud and exhibited indications of being intoxicated. He admitted to having smoked crystal methamphetamine that day. Escobar-Perez was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and for the accident related offenses. He was transported to the hospital, where he was given an opportunity to submit to a chemical test of his blood, but he refused to give consent. He was then transported to Central Booking where he was processed and held for arraignment. He was committed to the Chester County Prison in lieu of posting $10,000.00 bail. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
