Jesus Lopez-Vasquez, age 50, of Kennett Square was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for a moving violation. The incident occurred on 06/15/2019, in the 1700 block of Baltimore Pike, in New Garden Township. Police had received a report of a driver illegally passing cars in West Grove Borough. The vehicle in question was spotted by police, as it was leaving Avondale Borough, and police observed it make a left turn on red. When police attempted to initiate a traffic stop in New Garden Township, the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed, leaving the roadway briefly, before finally coming to a stop after another quarter mile of distance . Upon making contact with Lopez-Vasquez, police observed indicators suggesting intoxication and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a B.A.C. of .127%. He was processed and later released pending issuance of a summons.
