Hannah C. Rash, age 18, of New Castle, DE was arrested and charged with DUI (Controlled Substances), as well as with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), and a traffic offense, after the Hyundai she was operating was stopped for an equipment violation. The incident occurred on 03/31/2018 at approx. 0133 hours, in the 1800 block of Baltimore Pike, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Rash, police detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Rash admitted to having smoked marijuana a short time earlier and admitted to having contraband in the vehicle. A subsequent search produced a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia. Rash was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and for the drug violations. She was transported to the hospital where she consented to a chemical test of her blood, the results of which are pending lab analysis. She was then processed and later released pending issuance of a summons. Charges filed in MDC 15-4-04.
