PSA - Police Scotland

The Southern Chester County Regional Police Department is pleased to announce Chief Gerald R. Simpson’s graduation from the Senior Leadership Program at the Police Scotland International Academy at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan Castle.

The forty-hour-plus leadership course is designed to introduce foreign police executives to Police Scotland’s mission in an environment of professional collaboration and networking to educate them about the different practices used to deliver public safety services to our communities.  To share a quote from Desmond Tutu on the wall of the Scottish Police College – “There comes a point when we have to stop pulling people out of the river.  We have to go upstream and find out why they are falling in…”

The course curriculum included visits to the Police Scotland Colleges at Tulliallan and Jackton and the police stations in Dundee and Glasgow.  Topics covered by the instructing staff included the following:

History and Overview of Police Scotland
Mission Statement
Leadership & Talent
Probationer training
Public Order and force options
Drug misuse
Investigations
Professional Standards

With so many grand takeaways from the program, Chief Simpson intends to offer a reflection presentation at the next SCCRPD Community Advisory Board meeting; the date is TBA.  This presentation will be open to the public.
