Overturned Tanker - May 1, 2018

The Tredyffrin Twp. Police Department is investigating a single vehicle incident that occurred at Pugh Rd. at West Valley Rd., in the Wayne section of Tredyffrin Township. Today, May 1st, 2018 at 1153 AM, Chester County Police Radio dispatched units to the above location regarding a tractor-trailer combination carrying approx. 5,000 gallons of gasoline. At the scene, first responders discovered that the Driver attempted to turn his rig around in the intersection as the load shifted, causing a partial overturning of the trailer containing the fuel.

A minimal amout of fuel was spilled. This area has been boomed to secure the fuel from running off.  No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. As a precautionary measure, responding units including Berwyn and Paoli Fire Companies, Valley Forge Fire Company’s Traffic Unit and Chester County Hazmat, cordoned off the area. Abel Brothers Towing responded to assist in righting the trailer. Another tanker truck was brought to the scene to off load the product prior to the truck being uprighted. No additional measures are expected to be employed.

Traffic is temporarily being diverted and is expected to be cleared before the rush hour traffic begins.
