Special Press Release - February 20, 2018

On Monday, February 20th, 2018 at 7 PM, The Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors, presided by Board Chair Heather Greenberg, will meet in Keene Hall for the monthly BOS meeting. During this meeting, Chief Mike Beaty of the Tredyffrin Twp. Police Department is scheduled to make several announcements involving the Department’s personnel:

Sergeant Ed Spiller (Patrol Division) retired in December of 2017 after 31 years of honorable service. Spiller, a community mainstay, graduated from Marple Newtown HS in 1983, completed the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy in 1986 and was hired by Tredyffrin Police Department in June of 1987. Spillers’ accomplishments include assignment to the Traffic Safety Unit in 1990 and promotion to his current rank in January of 2003. Many of the township residents will recognize Spiller for his many years of managing the local Trout Derby and his long term commitment to the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District, acting as the Head Coach for the Conestoga Boy’s Wrestling Team.  Sgt. Spiller has numerous commendations to include his delivery of a baby girl in May of 1993 prior to the arrival of EMS, the Commendation of Merit for the capture of a bank robbery suspect in 2005 and a Commendation for Bravery for his response to a Paoli location for a barricaded gunman shooting at officers.  He has amassed at least four Lifesaving Commendations during his tenure. Spiller is the proud husband of wife, Rose and his four children; Matthew, Nicole, Bo and Michelle.

Superintendent Beaty reports the promotions of the following officers to the ranks of Sergeant and Corporal.

To the rank of Sergeant (Patrol Division) - Allen Dori, 50, a past Officer of the Year 2008 and decorated sixteen year veteran of the Agency was promoted to his present rank from the position of Corporal (Patrol Division) in 2012. Sgt.  Dori is a 1985 graduate of Owen J. Roberts H.S. where he was a standout Varsity baseball player, continuing his education and baseball career and graduating with a B.S.  in Criminal Justice in 1997 at West Chester University. Dori started his career at Tredyffrin Twp. PD in January of 2002. Dori graduated from the Montgomery County Police Academy in June of 2002 and detailed to the Patrol Division. Sgt. Dori is a member of the Special Operations Team and a founding member of the North East Chester County Emergency Response Team (NECCERT), the precursor of the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team (CCRERT). Dori served as a counselor for the annual Tredyffrin Twp. PD’s Kids Camp and as a presenter with the Citizen’s Police Academy for SWAT and patrol tactics as well as a Field Training Officer (FTO). Sgt. Dori was a guest lecturer at the Conestoga High School on numerous occasions in Criminal Justice classes.  Dori served as a United States Marine for six years and attained the rank of Corporal.  He rejoined the military in 1999 with the Pennsylvania National Guard and served until 2001. Sgt. Dori is married to Yahira and has three sons; John, 24, Michael, 21 and Andrew, 14.

To the rank of Sergeant (Patrol Division) - Donald Molineux, Jr., 40, is the 2012 Officer of the Year, and a highly decorated sixteen year veteran of the Agency was promoted to his present rank from the rank of Corporal (Patrol Operations). Molineux graduated from Bishop Shanahan H.S in Downingtown in 1996 and Shippensburg University in 2000 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He then attended and graduated from the Delaware County Police Academy located at the Delaware County Community College in June of 2001 before working for Dewey Beach (DE), Rehoboth Beach, Darby Borough Police Department and Birmingham Twp. Police Departments that year. Cpl. Molineux is a past member of the Special Operations Team and the North East Chester County Emergency Response Team (NECCERT). He participated in Tredyffrin’s annual Citizen’s Police Academy, teaching patrol tactics and as a Field Training Officer (FTO).  Molineux has been the subject of numerous life saves, performing CPR and using an AED in 2016. Sgt. Molineux was also part of two notable cases. In May of 2011, he was part of an arrest for an armed robbery subject in Newtown Square with Sgt. Spiller. In May of 2016 Sgt. Molineux was a participant in the felony vehicle and foot pursuit of seven subjects that were part of the “Felony Lane Gang” on SR 76.  Molineux is an avid baseball player and fan, having served as the coach for the Sts. Simon and Jude Varsity Baseball Team and playing in the West Chester Adult baseball League. Molineux is married to Michelle and is father of two sons and a daughter: DJ, 5, Darren, 4 and Evelyn, 14 months. Sgt. Molineux’s father is the past Chief of Police for Yeadon Borough, Donald Molineux, Sr.

To the rank of Corporal (Patrol Division) - Thomas Spurlock, 31 years of age, is a highly decorated five year veteran of the Agency and was promoted to his present rank from the rank of Class “A” Patrolman (Patrol Division). Spurlock graduated the Delaware County police Academy at the Delaware County Community College in June of 2013 before coming to Tredyffrin. Tom is a current member of the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team (CCRERT) and a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). One notable event in Spurlock’s career was the successful interruption of a kidnapping on SR 202, April 17th, 2016. Spurlock stopped the suspect vehicle, secured the child victim and detained the defendant, working in concert with Cpl. Robert Reynolds and Cpl. Scott Costa.  In 2014, Cpl. Spurlock was cited for his work leading to the arrests of two men who were charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver heroin and cocaine and were linked to overdose deaths in the region.

To the rank of Corporal (Patrol Division) - Michael Spirito, Jr. 33, an eleven year, highly decorated veteran of the Agency, was promoted to his present rank from the rank of Class “A” Patrolman (Patrol Division). Mike   graduated from the California University of Pennsylvania with a B.S in Criminal Justice and a B.A. in GIS and Emergency Management in 2006-2007. He received his M.S. In Legal Studies for Homeland Security in 2013. Spirito is a member of the Honor Guard, a Field Training Officer (FTO) and serves as an Intelligence Liaison Officer with the Delaware Valley Intelligence Center (DVIC) and the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center (PaCIC) Mike currently serves as a member of the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team (CCRERT), serves as a camp counselor for the Pennsylvania State Police’s Chester County Camp Cadet Program and Tredyffrin Police’s Kids Camp. Mike has been cited in several commendations to include June of 2016. Cpl. Spirito tracked down a suicidal individual through the use of electronic devices enabling medical personnel to attend to them and in August of 2016 for his participation in a multi-county drug investigation that led to the seizure of drugs and $139,000 in cash in Montgomery County. Cpl. Spirito was the subject of another lifesaving commendation in June of 2008 when he used an AED and CPR to save the life of a township resident.  Corporal Spirito is the son of former Tredyffrin Twp. Police Department Lt. Michael Spirito, Sr.  

Judge Sondergaard will preside over the swearing in of one new officer - Rebecca Fulmer.  Fulmer, 30 years of age, from Wheaton, Illinois is a four year veteran law enforcement officer. Wheaton, a 2012 graduate of Delaware Valley University, received her Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Wildlife Management.  Fulmer went on to attend the Pennsylvania State Police Academy at the South-West Training Center, Greensburg, completing her certification in March, 2014.  Fulmer then served with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) as a park ranger. Fulmer is a thirteen year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Previous postings included a tour in the Far East. Rebecca is married to William and they have daughter, Samantha, 16 aged 16 months and a step-son, Andrew, 10 years of age.

The ceremony will take place at the Tredyffrin Twp. Municipal Complex, Keene Hall, and 1100 Duportail Rd., Berwyn, Pa 19312 on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 at 7:00 PM.
