Special Release - Marijuana Grow Operation Arrests - February 16, 2017
The Tredyffrin Twp. Police Department is investigating a marijuana grow operation coming out of a residence on the 100 block of Maple Avenue, in the Paoli section of Tredyffrin Twp. On Thursday, February 9th, 2017 at approx. 1230 hrs, police responded to the location, made contact with the defendants, David Knap, W/M, 27 years of age and Samuel Zuscin, W/M, 24 years of age, and arrested them at the scene. An overwhelming smell of marijuana was present. Officers secured the residence pending the service of a search warrant by detectives, which occurred later in the day. The search of residence yielded over 5 lbs. of marijuana, both growing and cut, along with tenting, growing lights and other features meant to aide in the propagation of the plants.
The subjects, both Slovenian nationals, were charged with violations of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code under Title 35, Health and Safety for Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, a Felony ; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; and Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance, a misdemeanor
The above subjects were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Analisa Sondergaard of District Court# 15-4-01. The subjects were bound over on $50,000, 10% bail pending preliminary hearings scheduled on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 before Magisterial District Judge Thomas Tartaglio at District Court# 15-1-02, located at 1572 Paoli Pike, West Chester, Pa.
On Wednesday, February 15th, 2017, both subjects waived their preliminary hearings to the Court of Common Pleas, before Magisterial District Judge Tartaglio. In lieu of posting bail, both defendants were remanded to the Chester County Prison pending trial and action on federal immigration warrants.
