On June 12, 2019 at 1:10 PM members of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department were on surveillance near Greenhill Road and North Chester Road, East Goshen Township. Under surveillance were two wanted fugitives with warrants issued by the New Castle County Police Department in Delaware for burglary and related offenses.
Detectives in unmarked police vehicles followed the white Kia sedan with a Delaware registration north on North Chester Road and requested help from marked police vehicles. A traffic stop was attempted on Lancaster Avenue in East Whiteland Township after police confirmed the vehicle did contain the fugitives. The vehicle was initially stopped but then the driver backed up and slammed into the front of an unmarked police vehicle that had emergency lights activated. The driver was able to escape and led multiple police vehicles on a chase that went 13 miles through four different jurisdictions.
While eastbound on East Street Road in Thornbury Township, the driver of the white Kia sedan failed to stop for a red traffic signal at Shiloh Road and struck a Honda sedan that was northbound in the intersection. Both vehicles were damaged by the crash and the two occupants of the Kia sedan taken into custody. The driver of the Honda sedan, a 27-year-old male from Thornton, PA, was not injured. Both fugitives were transported to the Paoli Hospital where they were treated and released into police custody.
Taken into custody was the driver, Jennifer Lee Buce (age 39) from the unit block of Oakland Road, Broomall, PA and passenger Michael Vincent Marusco (age 37) from the 3700 block of Worthington Road, Collegeville, PA.
The roadway was closed during the investigation and re-opened to traffic at 2:50 PM.
Earlier in the day at 12:12 p.m., Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department received a report from a resident in the 1400 block of Manley Road in Westtown Township about a suspicious white male who knocked on the front door of the residence. When video surveillance at the home was reviewed, it showed that a white male subject approached the front door and used his shirt to check the front door knob. The person looked at the mounted video camera and quickly left the home.
Detectives reviewed the video supplied by the homeowner and confirmed that the white Kia involved in the pursuit was in fact the vehicle at the home and the male occupant in the car was Michael Vincent Marusco.
Both Buce and Marusco were transported to Chester County Prison where they were held overnight. On June 13, 2019 Magisterial District Judge Tartaglio arraigned Buce and Marusco on the charges filed. Bail for both is set at $250,000.00 dollars and their preliminary hearing will be held on June 19, 2019 at 9:00 AM at Magisterial District Court 15-1-02. An additional bail amount of $100,000.00 dollars was set for both defendants for the New Castle County, Delaware warrants.
