On Monday, June 18, 2018 the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department arrested Andrew F. Tichy, age 30, from Reno, Nevada in connection with a serious crash back in March of 2018. Tichy was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into several parked vehicles, that rolled on top of him and caught on fire. Officers from the police department and citizens worked together to push the vehicle off of Tichy to save him from burning.
As a result of a detailed investigation by the Traffic Safety Unit, Andrew Tichy was charged with Risking Catastrophe (Felony 3), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (2 counts), Speeding and Reckless Driving. Investigators determined that Tichy was traveling at a speed of 100 MPH in the 1600 block of West Chester Pike which is posted at 55 MPH. Just prior to the crash, police determined that Tichy was driving at 83 MPH in the 1500 block of West Chester Pike which is posted at 45 MPH.
Tichy was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge William Kraut at District Court 15-2-03 and bail was set at $50,000.00 dollars unsecured. Tichy will return to the court on June 28th at 9:00 AM for his preliminary hearing.
On Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 1:21 PM the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Rt. 3 and Rt. 352 in Westtown Township, Chester County. Witnesses reported that a vehicle crashed into several parked vehicles in the parking lot of Saints Simon and Jude Church and that a vehicle was overturned and on fire.
Police arrived on scene and found one vehicle overturned and on fire. The male driver, who suffered moderate injuries, was trapped under the vehicle, and police were able to push the vehicle over and off of the driver. This individual was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to Paoli Hospital.
No school students or staff were injured as a result of this accident.
