Throughout the day numerous residents of East Goshen Township have reported receiving fraudulent phone calls where the caller identifies themselves as a representative of the IRS. The caller then demands immediate payment of past due taxes or a warrant will be issued for their arrest. Residents should be advised that this is a SCAM and are reminded to never wire money, purchase gift cards, or send money to anyone who purports to be from the IRS. If such calls are received residents are encouraged to report the matter to our police department by calling 610-692-5100 and to also contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration to report a phone scam. Use their “IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting” web page. You can also call 800-366-4484.
