SERIOUS MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN WESTTOWN TOWNSHIP REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION

On Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 9:01 PM the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to West Chester Pike in front of the Heather Glen Apartments for a serious vehicle accident involving motorcycles.

Upon arrival to the scene Officers found two different motorcycle riders who were injured, one critically, and one passenger vehicle with severe damage. The two patients were treated at the scene and then transported by ground to Paoli Hospital. The driver of the sedan involved was not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The preliminary investigation showed that the 66 year old resident of Heather Glen Apartments was exiting the apartment complex, turning left to head west on West Chester Pike, when two Suzuki motorcycles traveling at high speed approached the intersection. A 25 year old male riding a 2013 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle struck the driver’s side rear quarter panel of the 2014 Kia Optima, and after this initial collision, the 28 year old male rider on a 2014 Suzuki GSXR struck the other rider and his motorcycle.

West Chester Pike was closed for 5 hours while members of the Traffic Safety Unit and Criminal Investigation Division completed the scene investigation. The sedan and both motorcycles were towed to the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department for further investigation.

The 25 year old motorcyclist remains in critical condition at Paoli Hospital.

The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department was assisted by the Willistown Police Department, Goshen Fire, Ambulance and Fire Police as well as PennDOT who responded to assist with cleaning crash debris from the highway at the conclusion of the investigation.
