WEST CHESTER REGIONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM SAFELY RESOLVES ARMED BARRICADED STAND-OFF IN EAST GOSHEN TOWNSHIP

On Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 4:28 AM the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to a reported verbal domestic in the 3000 block of Valley Drive, East Goshen Township, Chester County. This location is a three story, multi-family condominium located in Goshen Valley.

Police officers arrived on location and met with family members who reported that a 31 year old male was confrontational after a verbal domestic and that the subject threatened to shoot a family member. The male individual, who owns firearms, barricaded himself in his master bedroom and refused to communicate with responding officer. 

Police evacuated most residents of the building and a temporary shelter was set-up at the community club house.

The West Chester Regional Emergency Response Team (SWAT) arrived on location and attempts to communicate with the individual were unsuccessful. At 7:45 AM SWAT made entry into the bedroom and took the individual into custody without incident. This subject was transported to the Chester County Hospital for evaluation and at 8:30 AM residents were permitted to return home.

The West Chester Regional Emergency Response Team includes members of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department, West Goshen Township Police, West Chester Police, Willistown Township Police, Uwchlan Township Police, West Whiteland Township Police, West Chester University Police and the Chester County Detectives.

The West Goshen Police Department and the Chester County District Attorney's Office also assisted with this investigation.
