On December 16, law enforcement agencies throughout the state were alerted to a TikTok challenge containing a threat to schools. The post stated, “For anyone wondering on the the 17th, there will a massive school shooting threat across america not 100% sure but there’s a possibili.” and “on friday there is supposed to be a massive school sh00ting threat across america.”
At 9:35 p.m., the West Whiteland Township Police Department was alerted to a social media threat directed towards the Collegium Charter School campus on December 17. The West Whiteland Township Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit was immediately notified and started an investigation into the threat.
At 10:15 p.m., Collegium Charter School sent an e-mail to parents advising the school would be open, however, if parents wished to keep their children home from school, those absences would be excused.
On December 17, at 12:12 a.m., after conferring with West Whiteland Township Police Department, Collegium Charter School sent an e-mail to parents advising the school will be closed on December 17 and for their scheduled winter break.
