Distraction Burglary

The West Whiteland Township Police Department  is investigating distraction burglary that occurred at a township residence on 27th July 2020 at approximately 17:00 hours.  In this case, the victim heard an older white male yell her name from her front yard. The male advised her she needed two bushes removed in her backyard. The male then said he had to speak with a neighbor due to them also needing bushes removed and left towards an adjacent residence.

A younger white female approached her and directed her outback. The female suspect had a walking measuring tape wheel. Approximately five minutes later, the victim heard the male yell for the female. The female then ran out front and got in a black SUV. The victim later discovered items missing from her home.

On 8/5/2020, the West Whiteland Township Police Department Criminal Investigation Division was contacted by a resident in a nearby community who wanted to share information regarding suspicious activity captured on their Ring doorbell camera after seeing a previous Crime Watch post about this case.  The camera captured a male and female, believed to be in their late teens or early twenties, approach the front door of the residence after getting out of a silver Jeep Wrangler operated by an older white male.  When they saw the Ring door bell, they quickly left the area.

At this time, it is unknown if the two incidents are related; however, the West Whiteland Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is asking that anyone who may know the identity of the male and/or female in the above images, please contact us.
