Downingtown Police responded to 142 Wallace Avenue (PA Route 282) in Downingtown Borough on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 12:55 p.m. for a vehicle crash with reported injuries. Upon the arrival of Downingtown Police officers, they discovered that a Blue Mercedes SUV operated by an adult male crashed through the storefront of one business and then continued through the interior wall and into a second business. Bystanders extricated the vehicle operator, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Downingtown Fire & EMS personnel immediately began providing medical care upon their arrival. The vehicle operator declined medical transport. Three adult females who were in the business at the time of the crash sustained minor injuries. Two of them were transported to a local hospital to be further evaluated, and one of them refused medical transport. The Chester County Rescue Task Force also responded to assist Downingtown Fire & EMS.
The two affected businesses will be closed until repairs can be made. Other businesses within the same building are open.
The name of the operator is currently being withheld. The Downingtown Police Department is investigating this incident as an unintentional vehicle crash.
