Allegation Against Police Officer
All allegations against police officer shall be notarized and submitted to an Officer In Charge(OIC) at Oxford Borough Police Department ~ 57 N 4th Street Oxford PA 19363, Monday through Friday 8:00am- 4:00pm. The Chief of Police has an Internal Affairs designee who receives and investigates the allegation. All investigations shall be concluded within 30 days unless stipulated. Any allegation against the Chief of Police shall be forwarded to the Mayor.
REQUIRED NOTICE FOR PERSONS FILING ALLEGATIONS AGAINST POLICE OFFICERS
Title 18, Crimes and Offenses, of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, Chapter 49 Subchapter A authorities the following notice:
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AGAINST A POLICE OFFICER FOR ANY IMPROPER POLICE CONDUCT. THIS AGENCY MAY FIND AFTER INVESTIGATION THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO WARRANT ACTION ON YOUR COMPLAINT. EVEN IF THIS IS THE CASE, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE COMPLAINT AND HAVE IT INVESTIGATED IF YOU BELIEVE AN OFFICER ACTED IMPROPERLY. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO MAKE A COMPLAINT THAT YOU KNOW TO BE FALSE, AND/OR IF YOU MAKE A COMPLAINT AGAINST ANY POLICE OFFICER KNOWING THAT IT IS FALSE. YOU MAY BE PROSECUTED FOR MAKING FALSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST POLICE OFFICERS.
