OPD and Oxford Area School District conduct tabletop exercises

In the Fall of 2022, the Chester County District Attorney, CCIU, and Chester County Department of Emergency Services created the Chester County School Safety and Security Task Force Group. The first meeting was an initial meeting with school superintendents and a few police chiefs within the county to discuss some of the best school safety practices. On Tuesday, January 24th the OPD and the Oxford Area School District focused on incident command utilizing a tabletop exercise. Participants included OPD Chief Sam Iacono, OASD Chief Glenn Holz, OPD Sergeant Chris Coverly, OASD members Dr. Nicole Addis, DR. Margaret Billings-Jones, and Dr. David Woods. Also, groups comprised of Superintendents, Act 44 Coordinators, Chester County Law Enforcement partners: PA State Police - Avondale Station Commander, Dan Steele, Chester County Detectives, District Attorney Deb Ryan and Emergency Responders to work through a real-life safety scenario and reflect on our current safety practices, improve collaboration across stakeholder groups, and ultimately, continue to keep our students, staff, and communities safe.
