At the OPD, our primary goal is to facilitate the reunion of stray animals with their respective owners. When a stray animal is discovered, our standard procedure includes chip scanning, social media posting, and access to our newly implemented pet registry on the Crimewatch web platform (Borough of Oxford residents only). We encourage pet owners who reside in the Borough of Oxford to utilize this registry by registering their pets promptly. Oxford Borough imposes a $25 pet return fee to defray the $6,000 yearly contract cost with Chester County SPCA. Additionally, the SPCA levies an acquisition fee of $400 per dog and $200 per cat, as well a $300 per month Maintenance fee, plus $65 activity fee for each transport. Furthermore, an additional $250 fee is applicable for calls received during weekends or after standard operating hours. For instance, in the scenario where a dog is brought to our police station on a Saturday and its owner cannot be located, the Oxford Borough is invoiced $715 per dog, alongside the existing $6,000 annual contract cost and maintenance fees.
Please help us locate your pet and help reduce this cost.
