The West Whiteland Township Police Department is a fully accredited Pennsylvania law enforcement agency. The Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) awarded the accreditation on November 15, 2018 after an assessment in which the department demonstrated its compliance with 140 professional standards . Read the full press release.

Being an accredited law enforcement agency is advantageous for both the police department operations and the community it serves: 

  • Financial benefits. Accredited agencies can see a decrease in liability insurance as well as reduced risk and exposure to lawsuits.
  • Internal benefits. Accreditation encourages problem-solving activities within the agency and increases employee input.
  • Improved community relations. Being an accredited agency extends agency accountability to the public as well as helping to develop methods for providing services to the community.
