Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the core of the Police Department. Twenty-four hours each day, every day of the year, Officers of the Patrol Division are on duty to respond to the needs of our community. We are usually the first contact a citizen makes with the Police Department and we are proud to be of service. From auto accidents, to alarms, to crimes in progress, Patrol Officers are the first responders to all emergencies in the Township.

Training

In order to maintain a high level of service, the Officers of the Patrol Division undergo extensive training each year in firearms, legal updates, self-defense, first aid and many other important topics. We utilize state-of-the-art technology, such as mobile data computers, digital identification systems, and non-lethal weapons systems to complete our mission of protecting and serving the citizens of West Whiteland Township.

Responsibilities

Each year, this Division handles over 28,000 incidents. Aside from responding to emergencies, we are also responsible for enforcing traffic laws, local ordinances and, of course, the Crimes Code. We patrol the Township streets, direct traffic, and file reports on everything from minor auto accidents to major property losses.
