Memorial Service to Honor Kennett Square Police Officers

Due to the increased chance of rain for Tuesday November 15th, the Memorial Service is being moved inside the American Legion Hall. The entrance to the Hall is located in the 100 block of S. Broad Street. Guests and attendees may park in the parking garage and walk over to the event.
You are invited to attend a Memorial Service to honor the lives and sacrifices made by Kennett Square Police Officers Richard J. Posey and William W. Davis, on Tuesday November 15, 2022 at 6:00 pm in the 100 block of East Linden Street. Officers Davis and Posey were killed in the line of Duty 50 years ago on November 15, 1972 while serving the citizens of Kennett Square.
The Memorial Service will begin at 6:00pm with an Honor Guard presentation of Colors. There will be a unveiling of memorial plaques to commemorate Officers Posey and Davis and comments by honored guests.
Following the Memorial Service at 7:00pm, local author Bruce Mowday will be giving a presentation at the American Legion, 208 East State Street. Mr. Mowday will share the history of the tragic events leading up to November 15, 1972. We believe it is important to not forget the history and to honor the sacrifices made by Officers Posey and Davis.
