As Halloween approaches, the Kennett Square Police Department wants to remind everyone to prioritize safety while trick-or-treating and celebrating this spooky season. We have added extra Officers on patrol and our Parking Enforcement Officers will be at busy intersections (N. Union Street at Sickle Street and S. Union Street at Cedar Street) to assist with pedestrian crossings. In Kennett Square Borough, we encourage the community to Trick-or-Treat from 6 PM to 8 PM on October 31, 2025.
Here are some important tips to keep in mind:
👻 Plan Ahead: Establish a safe route for trick-or-treating and designate a meeting spot in case of separation.
🕷️ Stay Visible: Wear bright, reflective costumes and add glow sticks or flashlights to increase visibility.
🧌 Travel in Groups: Trick-or-treat with friends, family, or a trusted adult to ensure everyone's safety.
💀 Only Visit Well-Lit Homes: Stick to well-lit houses and avoid dark or isolated areas.
🦇 Check Candy: Inspect treats before allowing children to eat them, and discard any open, tampered with, or homemade items.
🕸️ Stay on the Sidewalk: Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible and avoid walking in the street.
🧟♂️ Be Mindful of traffic: Be cautious of vehicles and pedestrians, especially when crossing roads.
🦴 Charge your phone: Make sure your phone is fully charged in case of an emergency.
👽 Talk to Kids about the Risk of Distracted Walking: This includes text messaging, talking on or looking at their cell phones or listening to music.
👸🏼 Kids should never enter a home or car for a treat: Notify law enforcement immediately about any suspicious or unlawful activity.
🤖 Let your child know when and how to call 9-1-1: if they ever have an emergency, get lost or are prone to wander.
By following these simple tips, you can help ensure a fun and safe Halloween for everyone in our community. Happy trick-or-treating! 🍬
