The Chester County Fire Marshall has the incident cause listed as - Undetermined / Pending Further Investigation. As further information regarding the investigation is determined, that information will be released here. The Chester County Fire Marshall has provided the following value and loss information.
Building Value - $3,500,000 / Building Loss - $2,000,000
Contents Value - $10,000,000 / Contents Loss $1,500,000

On Monday January 25th at approximately 6:28 pm, Kennett Square Police Department officers were dispatched for a fire alarm at 650 W. Cypress Street, the site of Victory Brewing Company and Magnolia Place Apartments. Upon the first officers arrival, audible and visual alarms could be observed. As the officer began to asses the scene an explosion occurred from the parking lot south side of the building. Officers began assisting residents with evacuating the building and with the Fire Company's first arrival. Fortunately there were no injuries or fatalities as of result of the explosion and fire.
The Police Department is assisting with the coordination efforts between the Chester County Fire Marshall, Kennett Fire Company and Borough of Kennett Square Codes Department. Any residents of Magnolia Place apartments or those in the immediate area who have internal/external surveillance video that can assist in the investigation efforts are asked to contact the Kennett Square Police Department at (610) 444-0501.
The investigation is currently ongoing by the Chester County Fire Marshalls Office and the Kennett Square Police Department will provide updates as they become available.
