Happy Thanksgiving!!

Kennett Square Police Department wishes you a happy and safe Thanksgiving! The holiday season is known for being merry and bright, but it is also known for being the deadliest season when it comes to impaired driving. Every holiday season, lives are lost due to impaired drivers.

Don’t announce your upcoming travel plans on social media and wait to post photos until after you return home. Even if you trust your friends, many times their friends and friends of friends can all see your information, too. You don’t want to give a thief an invitation to your home.

Please follow these additional home safety tips before you leave for vacation:

-Lock your doors, including the garage door. Unlocked doors are open invitations to intruders.

-Ask a trusted family member, friend, or neighbor to keep a watchful eye on your home or have your mail held at the local post office until your return.

-Put lights on timers to give the impression that someone is home.

-If you are a resident in the Borough of Kennett Square, please use our vacation notice form so a Police Officer can check your home while you're away.
