On November 19,2020, during the overnight hours, Kennett Square Borough experienced several Criminal Attempt Theft incidents as well as two (2) Theft of Motor Vehicle incidents. Multiple juveniles were later identified by the New Castle County Police Department after numerous vehicles were either rummaged through, broken into or stolen. These events appear to have occurred in the Kennett Square Borough, Kennett Township and surrounding areas including Wilmington and New Castle, Delaware.
The vehicles which were involved in the Kennett Square Borough were located in the Stenning Hills neighborhood area, including Ridge Avenue, Worrall Avenue and South Mill Road. All vehicles were unlocked and rummaged through by the group of juveniles. There were no items taken from the vehicles regardless of the cash, gift cards and wallets that were all located inside said vehicles. The incidents included approximately fourteen (14) vehicles, two (2) of which were stolen. One of the stolen vehicles has since been recovered in Wilmington, DE.
As the investigation continues, the Kennett Square Police Department urges residents to lock their vehicles at all times and bring valuable items inside their homes to help reduce the amount of these incidents which have occurred more frequently in the recent months.
Furthermore, everyone is encouraged to report suspicious behavior at all times, regardless of how minor it may appear. If you “See Something, Say Something”, please.
