Westtown East Goshen Regional Police Department Announces Chief Brenda Bernot’s Retirement January 2, 2025 —
The Westtown East Goshen Regional Police Department announces the retirement of Chief of Police Dr. Brenda Bernot, a distinguished leader whose commitment to public safety and community service has left an indelible mark on the department and the communities of Westtown, East Goshen, and Thornbury. After four decades in law enforcement service and having served as Chief of the department since 2013, Chief Bernot finished her service on December 31, 2024 and will retire on April 6, 2025.
Chief Bernot has been a trailblazer in modern law enforcement, advocating for initiatives prioritizing community engagement, officer wellness, and technological advancements. Under her leadership, the department has achieved numerous milestones, including department accreditation, crime reduction, and community programs. Her transparent and compassionate approach to leadership has strengthened the bond between the police force and the community.
Key accomplishments during Chief Bernot’s tenure include:
• Enhanced Community Policing: Launching numerous initiatives such as a Community Services Officer, Coffee with Cop, and a Citizen Police Academy to build stronger, trust-based relationships with the community.
