Don't Forget Daylight Savings!

The end for Daylight Savings Time is fast approaching!  On Sunday, November 3rd 2019 at 2:00 AM, don't forget to "fall back" an hour.  Remember, that is Saturday night into Sunday.  In addition, this is also a great time to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  Even for smoke detectors that are hard wired, be sure to change the backup batteries.

With Daylight Savings in mind, the days are growing shorter.  This means many of you will likely be experiencing your morning and/or evening commutes in the dark, resulting in more time spent driving with your headlights on.  Please be aware of Pennsylvania's high beam law.*

When approaching another vehicle from the rear, you must use your low beam headlights within 300 feet of that vehicle.  When approaching another vehicle head on, you must use your low beam headlights within 500 feet of that vehicle.  With many of our roadways having center medians and/or guardrails, you may not be switching to your low beam headlights.  A good rule of thumb is that if you can see their headlights, they can see yours, so be aware of the aforementioned law.
