Hello residents, business owners, and visitors of Westtown and East Goshen Townships. My name is David Leahy. I would like to take a few moments to introduce myself. On January 1st of this year, I was named Interim Chief of Police of this great police department.
My appointment comes after the retirement of Chief Brenda Bernot who served this police department as Chief of Police since March of 2013. Chief Bernot leaves a legacy of being a visionary leader who advanced this department into what it is today. We Thank you, Chief.
I began my career with WEGO in 1999 and am now entering my 26th year with the department. I can honestly say that over my career with WEGO I have served aside some of the most professional and dedicated police officers ever to wear the uniform in Chester County. I am truly honored that WEGO Police Commission and the elected officials of Westtown and East Goshen Townships have given me the opportunity to lead the dedicated group of officers in this police department that serve you daily going into 2025.
I am honored to be named your Interim Chief of Police and look forward to meeting you in person over the coming months. I have some initiatives in planning which I will launch soon where we can meet and you can tell me what is on your mind. These opportunities will allow you to let me know what is on your mind, and how we can best serve you, our community members.
Should you need anything please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your time and again, I am truly honored for the opportunity to lead the men and women of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department.
