SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION!
The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department wants to send a friendly reminder to the motoring public about driving safely when approaching a school bus as it may be one of the most important rules that get overlooked. If a school bus is at a complete stop with the stop sign out and lights activated, it means to STOP! Children will be either boarding or off-boarding from the bus.
STOP MEANS STOP!
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FOLLOWING SCHOOL BUS SAFETY
Passing a bus that is completely stopped with the stop sign displayed outward is a steep fine and penalty. In Pennsylvania, Meeting or Overtaking a school bus is a $250 fine with an additional $35 surcharge. It is also a 60 day license suspension upon conviction of the violation.
Please take your time to familiarize yourself with the school bus laws and just remember – if you’re in doubt, STOP!
